THE LATEST:
RED EARTH "ZIA SOUL"
This is the latest album from Albuquerque's Rezzified Funk/Reggae/Rock(abilly) Kings. I joined RE part way through the recording of this album, and you can catch me dropping bass on the tracks "Phat Al Jr.", "Red Delicious", "Life in Babylon", "Rez Rocket", "Fourth World"(my baby, I did all the instruments on this 'P'-thang), "4:38", and "Zia Soul". I have to say that this album is THE SHIT (it's gotten 5/5 stars in the press), and the recording of this CD introduced me to ProTools, and the engineer Eric Larsen at Santa Fe Sound Studios here in ABQ is the man. And to the Ozomatli heads, Wil-Dog co-produced a track here. This is one of the best projects I've had the honor to be a part of. If this CD doesn't get some break-through I will be baffled as all hell (famous last words). There's some hilarious skits on here, too. Catch some free Mp3's at Mp3.Com . The full CD can be purchased at www.TribalStew.com .
CAP'T RAAB
"MEMBRANES DETONATING AT WILL"
This CD is the sequel to "Membranes Dissolving on Cedar", and again is a mix of weird instrumentals and crackhead spoken word ramblings. Included on here is "Theme from 'Hello Mr. Craigmott, Suck My Oil' ", which I composed for Shaggnasty Jake's one man performance show. I'm trying to get this up on IUMA for months, but their intake site is acting shitty so it's taking awhile. I've been liking IUMA, but this is lame. Since Mp3.com only lets you have 3 songs available at one time I'm looking for other sites to use to get the whole thing available. And yeah, there's live bass on this one (didn't own one on the last "Membranes..." CD), with plenty of gargles and burpy slaps.
